DAY OF TRIUMPH 2014

Thursday, October 2nd, 2014

Day of Triumph 2014

Polish those spokes, black the wheels and vacuum the carpets and get ready to be judged.

It’s on again! The TSOA annual DAY OF TRIUMPH. This year’s event will again be at Civic Park Modbury on SUNDAY 9th of November

Gates open around 8.30am and cars will need to be in position and ready for judging by 10.30am. Exit from Civic Park will not be allowed until the end of the event at 3pm for safety reasons.

I have been asked to take over this event from Rory Gibson this year and I hope that things go as smoothly for me as it has always been in the past.

The rules and scoring are the same as prior years and it will be the point score that wins you the trophy. The car needs to support the class and score ranking it has been entered into.

I will need a lot of help from several people on the day that have an eye for detail, especially Concours.

In the event of a tie, for any category, I will ask several of the more knowledgeable in the group to cast their eye over the cars to come up with the ultimate winner. The decision will be based on an agreed approach that would be generally around overall presentation and as close to original as possible for the Concours awards.

Please join me on the day. Ian Rigby 0417085083

Report – Day of Triumph 2013

Thursday, November 28th, 2013

The Day of Triumph was held in perfect conditions with approximately 45 cars on display .

Dino Vettese who owns Cafe Primo in the TTP shopping centre offered TSOA members a $5 buffet breakfast and many members partook of a hearty breakfast before judging began in earnest.

There was particularly keen competition in the TR4/5 and TR6 classes which provided the overall winners on the day.

Thanks to Alan Gold and Lyle Taylor who collated all the scores and the team of judges who all did a splendid job.   Once again we were able to use the tent from the Girl Guides and thanks to Bill & Margie for organising this along with tables and chairs for the collators.

Thanks also to Bob Cini who once again opened up the reserve early Sunday morning to ensure access is secured, and all those members who assisted on the day.

Dean Berlemon did a great job photographing all vehicles with their owners and delivering them before the end of the event.

Congratulations to winners of the various classes who are listed below and also to the outright winners, 1st Dino Vettese, 2nd John Fricke and 3rd John Tuohy.

Day of Triumph 2012

Thursday, November 29th, 2012

This year the Day of Triumph was held in ideal conditions for both a great display of cars and also a picnic atmosphere with many members setting up under the trees with picnic rugs, tables and chairs etc.

This display on Civic Park opposite Tea Tree Plaza Shopping Centre looked great with over 50 cars on display which attracted a lot of general public.   John Sampson’s initiative of inviting all TR6 owners saw a display of over a dozen cars which were featured in the middle of the oval.   Each year we will endeavour to feature a different marque.

Thanks to Duane Kaak and Peter Davidge who collated all the scores and the team of judges who all did a good job.   Once again we were able to use the tent from the Girl Guides and thanks to Bill & Margie for organising this along with tables and chairs for the collators, and also arranging for the coffee van to be in attendance.   Thanks go to Bob Cini who collected the tent from Bill on Saturday and every year arrives at Civic Park early to ensure access is secured, and all those members who assisted on the day.

Congratulations to all winners of the various classes which are listed below and also to the outright winners, 1st Roger Lange, 2nd Greg Fiedler and 3rd John Sampson.

Trophies were awarded as per the rules which were published in TRak.   As no category had more than three cars entered, first place only was awarded in the Concours competition.

Day Of Triumph 2010 Report and Results

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

The Day of Triumph was held at Civic Park opposite Tea Tree Plaza which provided all the necessary facilities.

The attendance of 60 cars was pleasing as was the weather which was excellent despite the poor forecast.

The outright Concours winner was Noel Schmidt with his newly restored red TR3A with Tony Rutter in his red Spitfire coming second and John Sampson in his white TR6 in third place.  The trophy winners of both categories are listed below and all trophies will be presented at the Christmas Dinner on 4th December.

We can only run an event like this with a lot of help, and thanks go to Alan Gold and Lyle Taylor who co-ordinated the Concours and POO competitions and their judges.  Thanks also to Bill and Margie Berlemon for providing the tent, tables and chairs.

Trophies were awarded as per the rules which were published in TRak.    A notable change from previous years was that in Concours first place only was awarded if three or less cars were entered in any category.   First and second prizes would be awarded if there were four or more cars in a category.   No category had more than three cars.    Pride of ownership remained the same with trophies awarded to first place getters only.

DAY OF TRIUMPH POSTPONED

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

***NEWS FLASH***NEWS FLASH***NEWS FLASH***

Due to the unprecedented extreme weather conditions, and our desire to enjoy a club member’s day that is comfortable for all, not to mention our beloved Triumphs having to bake in century heat, . . . . . .
. . . . . the 2009 Day of Triumph scheduled for Sunday 15th November has been POSTPONED.

This decision has not been made lightly, but is seen in the best interest of TSOA and its members, their families, our Triumphs, the Concours and Pride of Ownership judges, and the volunteer officials.

We hope to have details of a re-scheduled event advised to you as soon as we can. This is likely to be sometime in the new year, and hopefully in cooler conditions.

Feedback (positive or negative) is always welcome –

Carolyn Byrne’s Herald won the Masters Section.

The outright Concours winner was John Sampson in his TR6 with John Tuohy in his Saloon coming second, Harold Prince and Richard Sutherland tied for third place.

A special President’s trophy was awarded to Bob Cini for his efforts to attend the event (Bob was admitted to hospital with severe pneumonia on the day).    The trophy winners of both categories are listed hereunder and all trophies will be presented at the Christmas Dinner on 13th December.

DAY OF TRIUMPH  14th OCTOBER 2007

2007 Concours and Pride of Ownership Results

The Day of Triumph was held at the Fullarton Park Reserve which provided all the necessary facilities with plenty of shade in a central location. The mild sunny weather presented ideal conditions for the event. The attendance of 37 cars was up on last year but still disappointing particularly in the Concours section with only 10 entrants.  All last years Master’s Class cars, except Steve Moule’s 2500PI, were eligible for Concours or POO but with that vehicle not present no Masters Class trophy will be presented.

The outright Concours winner was Richard Sutherland with his white TR4A, with Carolyn Byrne in her Herald coupe and Peter Davidge in his green TR6 taking out 2nd and 3rd places respectively.  The trophy winners of both categories are listed below.  All trophies will be presented at the Christmas Dinner on 8th December.

We can only run an event like this with a lot of help, and thanks must go to Geoff Cugley and Lyle Taylor who co-ordinated the Concours and POO competitions and their judges.  Thanks also to Bill and Margie Berlemon for providing the tent and Sue Gibson and Margie Berlemon who were on the gate.
